Adnan Karim

Adnan Karim (he/him) is vice president of community impact at The Community Foundation of Middle Tennessee. He oversees a portfolio that spans grants, scholarships, childcare investments, disaster philanthropy, and sector-strengthening initiatives. He leads transformative shifts toward deeper, unrestricted grantmaking, convenes hundreds of nonprofits to build trust and collective strategy, and strengthens philanthropic partnerships across Middle Tennessee. He is a seasoned nonprofit, social impact, and philanthropic leader with over 15 years of experience advancing equity, dignity, and opportunity across the U.S. and internationally. Previously, Adnan served as managing director at Robert F. Kennedy Human Rights.  His earlier leadership roles at buildOn, Mercy Corps, and City Year reflect a career grounded in community organizing, youth development, peacebuilding, and global poverty alleviation. A first-generation American shaped by both local roots and global perspective, Adnan brings a steady commitment to collaborative leadership, systems-level change, and building the conditions for communities, and the organizations that serve them, to thrive.
