Mariohn Michel
Mariohn Michel (she/her) is the executive director of Breakthrough Birmingham, where she leads a multi-program education nonprofit focused on expanding access, accelerating learning, and strengthening educator pipelines. She began her career as a Teach for America corps member teaching high school social studies in rural Alabama and later held instructional and data leadership roles in New York City public schools. Across rural and urban contexts, her work has centered on translating student data into stronger instruction, curriculum design, and program effectiveness. Her leadership blends classroom experience with systems-level strategy to drive measurable outcomes for students and teachers. Mariohn graduated magna cum laude from Florida International University with a degree in secondary social studies education. She serves on the boards of Teach for America Alabama and SAIL Alabama and is a graduate of Leadership Birmingham.
