Mashonda Taylor

Mashonda Taylor (she/her) is the chief executive officer of Woodlawn United, where she has been instrumental in revitalizing Birmingham, Alabama's Woodlawn community for over a decade. Starting as an office administrator in 2012, she rose to CEO in 2020 driven by her passion for community development. Under her leadership, Woodlawn United, a Purpose Built Communities Network Member, has transformed the historic neighborhood through mixed-income housing, education initiatives, commercial development and wellness programs. Mashonda holds a bachelor's in psychology from Loyola University and a master's degree in organizational leadership from Gonzaga University. Mashonda is a member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. She previously served on multiple boards, including the Birmingham Planning Commission, Birmingham Water Works and the Birmingham Civil Rights Institute. In 2023, she was named non-profit CEO of the Year by the Birmingham Business Journal and joined the Leadership Birmingham Class. She enjoys exploring the community she helps revitalize, travel and weekend brunches.
