Chandra Taylor-Sawyer

Chandra T. Taylor-Sawyer (she/her) is a Senior Attorney with Southern Environmental Law Center. As the leader of SELC’s environmental justice initiative, she collaborates region-wide with staff and partners to alleviate the disproportionate burden of environmental harm on communities of color. Chandra also serves as Co-Chair of SELC's Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Committee, and on SELC’s Management Committee. Chandra teaches Environmental Justice Law, Policy and Regulation at UNC Law, as adjunct faculty, is on the Board of the NC Institute for the Environment, and the Central North Carolina Chapter of the Red Cross. She is a member of the Durham Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Incorporated. Chandra is a graduate of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and its School of Law, and is a native of Kinston, North Carolina. When she is not working, she likes to garden, travel, and spend time outside with family and friends.
