Shenekia Weeks
Shenekia Weeks (she/her) is the diversity, equity, and inclusion officer for the Town of Chapel Hill. She is particularly focused on addressing the social determinants of health and well-being and seeks to eliminate race and class-based disparities. Shenekia leads transformative initiatives to enhance equity in municipal governance based on the GARE Model. Previously, in St. Louis, she was the director of diversity, inclusion, and trauma at EducationPlus. Shenekia also worked as an equity, trauma, and restorative consultant at the Center for Character and Citizenship, where she co-designed simulation-based learning experiences to address real-world issues related to equity and trauma. She earned a bachelor’s degree in psychology from North Carolina A&T University and an MPA from North Carolina Central University. She is a proud member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. She is also Mom to Kyndall (her fur baby) and fiancée to Daaron.
